Michelle Ferrer Michelle is a writer/performer born in Manila, Philippines. She was raised in the small east bay town of Pittsburg and has a BA in Psychology from San Francisco State University. At Expressions 2000, she shared with audiences "Brown Eyes" and "Soul Stress". Michelle has performed at the Cell Space event The Importance of Being, where she performed three pieces, including a poem entitled "Becoming". This piece explores the themes of identity and the struggle to find one's place in America. Since her involvement with Coconut Masquerade, Michelle has had the opportunity to perform at the 2002 Floricanto Festival and Conference at MACLA in San Jose and The Justice League in San Francisco. Her poem "Neglected Treasures" was recently published in an anthology, Chasing Revelation (The International Library of Poetry, 2002). This spring 2003, Michelle will be working with the Pin@y Educational Partnerships (PEP), as a student teacher at Balboa High School. Michelle plays the roles of Ella and JJ in Melinda Corazon Foley's "Coconut Masquerade."
