Locus Jam Session Series Session I:
Locus Jam Session Series
Session I: Open Jam Session for Instrumentalists
with special feature Elson
hosted by Leonard Shek

Calling all musicians! Pack up your instrument of choice & come jam with us at space180 on saturday, March 25th!

Many songs and bands are born by jamming with musicians, so why not pull that old instrument out of storage and show your skills at Locus Arts. Instrumentalists of all genres, ages, & skill levels are welcome.

It'll be a casual, laid-back evening of spontaneous musical creational wondrousness. See you there.

ABOUT THE FEATURE

Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Elson performs “a new shade of soul” music influenced by ‘70s and ‘80s soul, funk and R&B, which combines refined songwriting and skilled musicianship.

Formerly known as electronica musician e:trinity (who last performed in San Francisco in 2002), Elson decided in 2004 to switch musical gears and present a different dimension of his talents, which also include 20 years’ experience in the pop, jazz, new wave, funk, acid-jazz, film score, techno and gospel genres.

Elson, along with his 7-piece backing band, The Soul Barkada (derived from a word taken from the Filipino language of Tagalog which means “a group of friends”), has played around the Southern California area since summer 2004, gracing the stage at local clubs, restaurants and outdoor festivals.

Onstage, Elson sings, plays keyboards and occasionally features his multi-instrumental skills on the guitar, bass or saxophone. He will be joined by The Soul Barkada SF, which, like his backing band back home, is comprised of some of his most musically-talented friends.

Elson is currently working on a full-length solo album entitled Elsongs 1: The Purpose of Innocence.
